Mastering the 3 Core Web Vitals Benchmarks
Google defines Core Web Vitals as the standard real-world metrics representing user-perceived page performance:
- Largest Contentful Paint (LCP): Measures perceived loading speed. Marks the point when the main content of the page has likely loaded. Target: <= 2.5 seconds.
- Interaction to Next Paint (INP): Replaced FID in March 2024 to evaluate full-page interaction responsiveness throughout the user session. Target: <= 200 milliseconds.
- Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS): Quantifies visual stability by detecting unexpected shifts in visible content during page load. Target: <= 0.1.
